We're committed to making our collection, buildings, and programs accessible to all audiences.

Arriving
The 6th Street entrance to the West Building has a ramp to accommodate wheelchairs and strollers, and elevators at these entrances provide access to galleries and public areas. To provide an address for MetroAccess Paratransit, please use 201 6th Street NW for the West Building or 150 4th Street NW for the East Building.

Parking
In addition to limited street parking on Madison Drive (two marked spaces at the West Building Mall entrance and three spaces near the Sculpture Garden), visitors with disabilities may park on the 4th Street Plaza outside the East Building in vehicles with proper tags or placards (a uniformed security officer will assist you).

Service Dogs
Service dogs are permitted in the East and West Buildings as well as in the Sculpture Garden.

Courtesy Wheelchairs
Visitors may borrow wheelchairs at all entrances on a first-come, first-served basis. All public spaces and facilities are accessible by elevator. If you require assistance, please ask a security officer.

Programs
Information about accessible programs for people who are deaf or hard of hearing and those who are blind or have low vision can be found on our accessibility page.

Getting Around
Our free map lists all accommodations, including accessible restrooms, and is available at all Information Desks. The Sculpture Garden and Pavilion Café, located between 7th and 9th Streets NW on the Mall, are also wheelchair-accessible.

If you have questions about accessible services, please call (202) 842-6905 Monday–Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. or send us an e-mail.
