Experiment with contrasting colors and their ability to create rich shadows and add a brilliant luminosity to your work.

Local artist Maud Taber-Thomas will lead an exploration of Sargent and Spain through artmaking and close looking. This workshop will focus on techniques that John Singer Sargent used to capture the rich culture and brilliant scenes he experienced on his numerous trips to Spain. 

Materials

  • 5 sheets of toned or white paper
  • Any coloring medium such as colored pencils, conte, or paint
  • Pencil and an eraser
