The DC Youth Orchestra’s Young Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Evan Ross Solomon, perform a short program of works by composers from the African diaspora. The program will include Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint George’s Symphony No. 2, Scott Joplin’s Solace, and Samuel Coleridge Taylor’s The Bamboula.

About the DC Youth Orchestra  

The DC Youth Orchestra Program (DCYOP) offers group lessons and ensemble training on all orchestral instruments for students ages 4 to 18 from across the Washington metropolitan area, empowering young people to transform their lives through music and community.  DCYOP orchestras range from beginning to advanced students and have toured 24 countries, played for numerous US presidents and foreign diplomats, and worked with esteemed musicians such as Aaron Copland, Lorin Maazel, Mstislav Rostropovich, Gustavo Dudamel, and Kevin Deas.
