Join us for a 30-minute meditation lead by yoga instructor and artist Aparna Sadananda, surrounded by paintings by Mark Rothko. Free and open to all. Space is limited and first-come, first served. No meditation experience required.
Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Mark Rothko: Paintings on Paper, this event takes place in the East Building Tower.
Aparna Sadananda is a yoga teacher (E-RYT 200 and RPYT) with experience teaching yoga and meditation in the studio, private and corporate settings in Washington, DC. She currently leads meditation classes and family-based mindfulness workshops for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art and the Phillips Collection. A visual artist in Indian folk art, she holds a Ph.D., in cellular neuroscience, from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, India, in 2013.
